YOUR BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY - AN ESSENTIAL INGREDIENT TO ENJOY A REWARDING BUSINESS LIFE

Can your Business afford to not have a clear Philosophy? What is a Business Philosophy? What is the purpose of it in the future growth of a Business? Some key questions that any business owner needs to challenge and seriously think about!

The right people being focused on the right actions in the right markets need to at least have a very GOOD chance of making a success of the business - the same people with the same focus being aligned by a clear Business Philosophy, have a GREAT chance of not only making decent profits, but also experience the joy of true significance!

Beyond the critical threshold of strong (read sustainable) profitability and the ongoing growth of shareholder returns, deeper (read softer) business themes such as the empowerment of people, the building of communities and the contribution towards the country's prosperity in general need to be an integral part of any businesses planning horizon.

When the owners and management critically challenge their overall behaviour and conduct, debate their general decision making processes, analyse their collective and extended purpose in business and assess whether the business is adequately positioned in terms of the said key business themes above, they might just find that a powerful force is either lacking or just under developed - i.e., a Business Philosophy. That gelling force that keep the people not only together, but also very much committed and motivated towards achieving rewards beyond profit and to remain focused on the extended purpose of doing business! And very importantly as well, assisting the overall staff compliment to work towards a legacy that their successors could be inspired by - especially when the going gets tough as we all have been experiencing lately.

An appropriate Business Philosophy has indeed the potential to support and/or even be the competitive edge that your Business has either been lacking or has been battling to maintain - it is indeed worth challenging the foundations of your Business.
