KING OF PINOTAGE

Beyerskloof Wines has been doing business with Nuvision and Pieter Rossouw for over 3 years now. What does Pieter admire most about Beyerskloof Wines?

"Both Beyerskloof Wines and Beyers Truter are two of the most respected brands in South Africa, certainly in the wine industry. Beyerskloof Wines understands marketing and Beyers is one of the best known winemakers in the business."

Beyerskloof Wines is situated in Stellenbosch, an area close to Pieter's heart. The well-known symbol of the vine leaf is found in households, restaurants and wholesalers, locally and abroad.

"Beyers is a South African legend and is known as the King of Pinotage, having consistently won awards both locally and internationally. Yet, he has the humility to ascribe his success to the grace of God."

During Pieter's rugby playing days, Beyers was always involved with the WP rugby team.

"In 1998, we needed to beat the Sharks at Newlands to get through to the semi finals of the Curry Cup. Beyers promised that if we won, he'd give each of the team a 9L bottle of red wine. We beat the Sharks, won the semis and got through to the final. Beyers promised us an 18L bottle if we won the final. Unfortunately, we didn't win - there was that controversy over whether 'that' pass to Chester Williams was forward or not. We made the final in 2000 again and Beyers advised us that the same 1998 offer still applied. After winning the final, we received our 18L bottles. While we celebrated with a braai, Beyers then made another promise. If we won the Currie Cup final the following season again, he'd give us a 27L bottle! With that kind of motivation, we won the Currie Cup in 2001 and we couldn't wait for our braai where Beyers presented us with 27L bottles of Beyerskloof's best!!"

Beyerskloof Wines has a strong sense of responsibility. The Faith Fund is a non-profit organisation which raises funds for various activities, projects, charities and organisations working with children, families and communities affected by alcohol abuse, with a particular focus on Foetal Alcohol Syndrome.

"Beyers has a tremendous sense of helping people in need, especially schools and charities, and it is that humanity - alongside his achievements in business - that makes him someone that I'm proud to be associated with."
