Refreshing place
Situated at the southern most tip of Africa in Cape Agulhas, with panoramic views of the azure blue ocean, Cornwallis Lodge brings elegance, comfort and luxury to any tired soul.
Jacoline & Neil Bezuidenhout, family of Nuvision's Betsie Warne, bought the house as a private dwelling and converted it into a guest house in 2005. The estate is built from sandstone mined from the Overberg area, each hand crafted to fit into its unique place. A reed thatch roof tops it off, providing the ultimate in cooling during summer and entrapping heat in winter, allowing the smell of the ocean to pamper their guests.
The Lodge is named after Colonel Charles Cornwallis Michell, who together with Michiel Van Breda, designed and built the world famous Cape Agulhas Lighthouse during the British Colonial occupation of the Cape of Good Hope.
Cornwallis Lodge offers 6 suites with truly magnificent sea facing views, self catering suits, a conference centre for up to 30 delegates, a private pool and bar area. The restaurant serves both locally and Portuguese inspired dishes, all prepared on wood charcoal grills.
They also offer a helicopter landing pad (to and from Cape Town International Airport shuttle service), DSTV in all rooms, imported linen, ADSL Internet, Fax and WiFi facilities.
They also cater for small weddings for up to 40 guests. According to Betsie, Cornwallis is the perfect place to restore, revitalize, refresh and motivate staff. The Cornwallis is 4 Star graded by TGSA.
